An Air France flight from Tel-Aviv to Paris through Athens was hijacked in1976 and was forced to land in Entebbe, Uganda. The Jewish passengers were separated and held prisoned in demand to release many terrorists held in Israeli prisons. After discussion, the Israeli government sent an elite commando unit to raid the airfield and release the hostages to save the passengers.

Most of the filming took place in Luqa, Malta, at the International airport. A day after the filming wrapped in Malta, a real hijacked Libyan airplane landed which was very close to the set.
