While he was just a boy, Shankar Rao promised his guardian that he would take care of her two young sons and daughter has his own younger siblings. Fulfilling his promise to her, he labours hard to ensure that all their needs are met.
Shankar is happily married to Parvathi, who becomes pregnant. Taking into account Shankar's financial strain and difficulty in paying back debts, Parvathi aborts the baby and decides to sacrifice, as she feels it's more important to ensure the welfare of Shankar's siblings.
Keeping nothing for themselves, Shankar and Parvathi pay for the education of youngsters and make great sacrifices. How will Shankar's siblings treat them in return?
