The film was originally directed by Bala under the title 'Varma', but due to creative differences with Bala, E4 Entertainment decided to re-launch it with a new cast and crew, retaining Dhruv and music director Radhan, they made Adithya Varma which with director Gireesaaya.
The shooting was briefly stalled due to a strike of the Tamil Film Producers Council, but was resumed in April after the strike ended.
