Ain (2015)

Set against the backdrop of the Muslim community residing in the Malabar area, this multi-layered social drama delves into concepts of belonging, social and familial expectation, crime and self-discovery.

Maanu is an ill-adapted youngster, who has no idea of how to gain the approval of his family or the acceptance of society. His mother Umma and sister constantly accuse him of being a responsible and useless. The only person who is able to understand his suffering and the torment he undergoes is his grandfather, Vavachi.

Having a perverse preference for the colour and smell of blood, Maanu goes in search of it, but when he actually ends up witnessing a murder, he panics and flees the scene. He decides to escape the area and travels to Mangalore to start life over. How will Maanu's life be influenced by this traumatic event in his life? What will the future hold in store for him?
