Maanu is an ill-adapted youngster, who has no idea of how to gain the approval of his family or the acceptance of society. His mother Umma and sister constantly accuse him of being a responsible and useless. The only person who is able to understand his suffering and the torment he undergoes is his grandfather, Vavachi.
Having a perverse preference for the colour and smell of blood, Maanu goes in search of it, but when he actually ends up witnessing a murder, he panics and flees the scene.
