From the start, director Jacob Vaughan wanted Milo to be a puppet instead of done with CGI.
Milo and Ralph were mainly controlled by two puppeteers. One handled the body while the other handled the expressive face.
The puppeteer who controlled Milo's body was digitally removed from the frame in post-production.
Much of this film's dialogue was improvised.
