Drawn from the Vishnu Purana, this legend tells of Prahlad, the son of the demon tyrant Hiranyakshapu. Prahlad disobeys his father by worshipping the latter's hated enemy, Vishnu. He undergoes tortures, including being burnt in oil, trampled beneath an elephant and poisoning, but remains safe and unharmed. In the attempt to prove his point, the King becomes more audacious in his attempts to kill his own son. Will Lord Vishnu come to protect his ardent devotee from death? Can the powerful demon be defeated?
