Trivia:
Emily Blunt was considered for a role in the project but she declined due to her pregnancy.

Jared Leto traveled to Budapest to film his scenes and his part was wrapped in just under two weeks.

Initially Denis Villeneuve was against the concept of a sequel to Blade Runner as it would violate the original, but after reading the script he got committed to the project.

It was also reported that director Christopher Nolan was desired as the director for the project.

Ridley Scott, who had directed the original film, considered developing a sequel, tentatively titled 'Metropolis', and stated his interest while attending the San Diego Comic Con in 2007.

The development of a sequel to Blade Runner began in 1999 where British filmmaker Stuart Hazeldine had written a sequel based on K.W. Jeter's novel titled 'The Edge of Human'.
