Set in the Russian-Finnish border of Karelia, a traditional family manages to keep their shamanistic rituals alive. Director Andrés Duque narrates the traumatic historical moments of Karelia which once belonged to Sweden. Children play in the same forests where photos being nailed to trees remind us of Stalin's bloody repression. The father points out to the massacre by Ivan the Terrible in 1570. The daughter of a historian, an activist investigates the mass graves for 20 years, which describes how her father was arrested on the basis of a shady accusation.
