Chatriyan (1990)

Embedded with fierce action and charged emotion, this crime drama follows the dangers in the life of Panneer Selvam (Vijayakanth), an honest cop, who is dedicated and uncompromising. Investigating into the criminal affairs of a local goon Arumai Nayagam a.k.a Annachi (Thilakan), he succeed in gathering enough evidence for the prosecution to win the case. Annachi is sent to prison. Annachi avenges his arrest by killing Panneer Selvam's wife (Revathi). After being shattered and devastated by the loss of his wife, ACP Panneer Selvam quits the Police force and takes care of his children, renting an apartment owned by V.K Ramaswamy. Bhanupriya (VK Ramaswamy's grand daughter) gets introduced to Panner Selvam's children and starts mingling with them, eventually falling in love with Panneer Selvam. Meanwhile, Arumai Nayagam is released from prison and realizes that he doesn't carry the same respect as he used to before going to jail. His anger against Panneer Selvam doesn't cease. Arumai Nayagam challenges Panneer Selvam to join the police again and try to fight him again. Panneer Selvam initially rejects the offer. Arumai Nayagam tries to provoke Panneer Selvam by attacking his home and son. Out of frustration over the attack on his son, Panneer Selvam joins the Police again and fights Arumai Nayagam again. ACP Panner Selvam's bitter enmity with Arumai Nayagam spirals into violence and vengeance from both sides. How will the confrontation finally end and what is the price each of them must pay for their hatred?
