Pandora’s Box is a silent film based on Frank Wedekind’s two plays Earth Spirit and Pandora’s Box. It features Lulu (Louise Brooks), an amoral self-destructive temptress, not content with being the mistress of one man Dr. Ludwig Schon(Fritz Kortner).She is also involved with his son Alwa (Francis Lederer), while still cavorting with her former patron, Schigolch (Carl Goetz). The film is also known for a lesbian sub-plot wherein Countess Augusta Geschwitz (Alice Roberts) is smitten with Lulu. Brooks’ haunting performance in the film marked a turning point in her career.
