Vijay Varma (Amitabh Bachchan) and Ravi Kapoor (Shatrughan Sinha) are two close childhood friends. Their friendship goes beyond their careers as Vijay is a police officer who brings criminals to justice, while Ravi's job as a lawyer is to try to get them out.
To add further complications in the friendship, both men meet and fall in love with the same woman, Sheetal Sahni (Zeenat Aman) at different places and times, unbeknownst to each other.
And if that weren't enough, Ravi's employer Mr. Daaga (Prem Chopra) happens to be a criminal mastermind and whose nemesis is none other than Vijay. With everything going against them, will Ravi and Vijay friendship endure? How will they sort out their differences?
