Where did you watch this movie?

'English Vinglish' is a contemporary socially relevant and woman-centric tale that delves into sensitive concepts such as self esteem, verbal abuse, love, respect, and the ever-changing equations in a marital relationship. This inspiring and enervating tale is of a quiet, sweet tempered housewife who endures small slights from her well educated husband and daughter everyday, because of her inability to speak and understand English. She is resourceful and open-minded but somehow these traits don't get noticed by them. Due to her sincerity of purpose and wholehearted dedication to the family, she is taken for granted and mildly demeaned. Although extremely unhappy and hurt by the family's behaviour and taunts, she is unable to strum up the courage to make radical changes in her life. Then, in a serendipitous twist of fate, she is forced to travel alone to the United States of America on a trip to visit her sister, to be part of her niece's wedding. Alone in Manhattan, she boldly decides to enroll in an English Learners class and meets a host of new people who teach her to value herself beyond the narrow perspective of her family. Her attempts to prove her self-worth to her family becomes a journey of joyous self-discovery and creates a resurgence and rejuvenation in her life and all her relationships.
