He’s carefree, casual about love, lazy and shows little humanitarian inkling. She’s a fiery, righteous rebel, a mini ‘Mother India’ who fights for everything ‘unfair’. He must learn how to care about others in order to win back his ex-girlfriend, a dedicated social activist.

Lagaan meets Ek Main Aur Ek Tuu
on

Again, time to put on your blinders, shut down the cerebral power plant and sink into the air-conditioned comfort of a plush multiplex seat near you. After Ek Main aur Ek Tuu, Imran & Kareena once again bring their infectious, almost teenage chemistry to the big screen.

Imran as Bangalore born & raised Tam-brahm boy is absolutely adorable and the love-hate-love relationship between his father (portrayed by the epic Nizhalgal Ravi) and him is something that every 20-something urban Indian male will associate with. Kareena as the annoying NGO-types plays her role with aplomb, looking gorgeous in her seedhi-saadhi ethnic outfits.

If the first half is full of urban adventures that include some impressive scenes at Bangalore UB City, the second will definitely take you back to the days of Lagaan. Be it the rustic Gujarati village or the spirit of camaraderie amongst the villagers, inspired by the lead protagonist, the connection is inevitable.

Most annoying HAS to be the placement of the songs. While most of them are admittedly catchy, their placement and relevance in the script was just short of frustrating.

I enjoyed the movie, laughed my guts out at certain parts and zoned away during the songs and came away very happy.

Trivia:
Earlier Punit Malhotra, who roped in Shraddha Kapoor to play the South Indian character Vasudha, actually wrote the character by keeping her in mind.

The first look of Shraddha Kapoor was posted by the director himself on his Twitter account.

Kareena was convinced of the movie in just one narration from the director.
