Idu Namma Bhoomi (1992)

This family-oriented romantic drama delves into the twists and turns in the life of Gopi, a handsome and talented young man, who makes it his life's mission to resolve the bitter feud between his parents' families. As young lovers, Gopi's parents were forced to elope in order to get married because Gopi's father, Jeganathan (Vijayakumar) was from an ordinary, impoverished family, whereas his mother, Nagavalli (Srividya) hailed from the most powerful, wealthy and respected family in the village. Nagavalli's decision to run away from home and marry the honest and hard-working Jeganathan, caused such scandal in the small community that her father was made to feel immense public shame. Unable to bear the humiliation of being disgraced in the community where he use to be revered, Nagavalli's father had a heart attack and passed away. This caused Nagavalli's brother, Rathnavel (Radha Ravi) to develop an deep hatred for Gopi's parents, despite his father's hard work and relentless efforts to become wealthy and gain equal stature in the community. As their bitter rivalry spirals out of control, Nagavalli is mortally wounded during combat between Rathnavel's and Jeganathan's henchmen at an auction. Gopi (Karthik), who had been quietly growing up under the supervision of Periyanayaki (Gandhimathi), his grandmother returns home to find his mother dying. After learning about his parents' history, Gopi decides to make it his mission in life to unite the two families and spark a friendship between his father and uncle. Fatefully, he decides that the most direct method to renew ties between the two families would be if he were to marry Nalini (Khushboo), his uncle Rathnavel's daughter.
