Bakka, is a young willful water diviner who lives at the Rann of Kutch, and knows how to find water in the desert, with his mystic dowsing rods. But his latest predictions turn out wrong and the villagers start questioning his talent. His strongest supporters are a brother-sister duo, Kajri & Rakla. While Kajri is in love with Bakka, Bakka dreams about a bewitching beauty from the enemy village, Kesar. Kim, a European bird watcher comes to Kutch and realizes that flamingo chicks are dying by the hundreds. She calls in teams from the Ecological Society, who arrive and decide that they would create artificial ponds for the birds. The only hitch is that all their scientific methods fail to find water in the desert. Kim turns to Bakka for help. Bakka knows where to find water, so that advanced machinery can get to it. The villagers are also excited, as they hope that after the birds, it will be their turn to get water. The crux of the tale follows the complex events that unfold after the water arrives.
