Kadavul Mama (1974)

This emotionally charged tale revolves around Kandhan, a kind-hearted and honest young man, who lives with his sister, Nirmala.

On one occasion, Karpagam, a beautiful young orphan is sexually assaulted by Manickam, but Kandhan comes to Karpagam's rescue and protects her like a brother. However, some villains murder Manickam and frame Kandhan for the crime.

Kandhan is arrested by the police and sentenced to life imprisonment. Kandhan accepts his fate and continues to question injustice, and even saves the prison warden's life. However, 6 years later, when he gets information that a wealthy man secretly married Karpagam and then betrayed her, thereby spoiling her life, Kandhan vows revenge and escapes from prison.

He ends up in a church, which runs a school where Kala and Uma are students. Uma is terribly unhappy because her father is missing from her life. Uma then finds Kandhan and thinks he is God's blessing. Believing that Kandhan had been sent to her by God to solve her problems, Uma takes him home. Kandhan is shocked to find that Uma is actually Karpagam's daughter and that Karpagam has become mentally unstable after her husband abandoned her.

Kandhan finds out that Karpagam's husband is Raj Mohan, a wealthy landowner, who is being controlled and blackmailed by Karunakaran an evil man. How will Kandhan free Raj Mohan from Karunakaran's control? Can he truly be the answer to Uma's prayers and solve all her problems? How will Kandhan's own life pan out?
