Review:

Story:
There is an ancient temple of Subramanya Swamy in a village named Subrahmanyapuram. This temple is shut down a year back due to some mysteries happened in that temple as well as that in that village. Anyone who is curious to know about the temple or try to enter into the temple are killed by a snake. Karthik(Nikhil) is a medical student and an atheist. Once he goes to Subramanyapuram in the purpose of attending a medical camp. There he faces some stunning situations and becomes curious to know about the mystery of the temple. The rest of the story is all about whether he chased the mystery or not.

Artists Performance

Actors: Nikhil acted very well in the role of a fearless and curious atheist. Swathi's role was nice as a BDS student and also as a village girl. Satya and Praveen got lengthy roles as hero’s friends and they entertained too. Rao Ramesh plays a vital role as archaeological department chief but his screen time is less. Kishore is wasted in a cop character. Jogi Naidu got a big role after many years. Tanikella Bharani did a good role as a tradition follower.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction:
The basic concept of the film is good. Debut director Chandu Mondeti very well tried to maintain the suspense throughout the film. Comedy in the movie worked well. Family drama and emotions are not carried well. The story totally revolves around the hero. Through the screenplay is nice, it can be shaped more to make the movie more interesting. However he stood by the story and did not try much to insert commercial elements into a suspense thriller other than one or two romantic songs.

Other departments:
Background score by Sekhar Chandra is good. Though the songs are good, they are wasted in a suspense thriller. It would be nice to stay away from songs (romantic songs at least) in these kind of movies. Cinematography is very nice. Editing can be done better. Art direction is very nice, especially using pictures to narrate the history of temple is a good idea. Production values are not upto the mark but as
a low budget movie one can understand their problems.

Analysis:
Actor Nikhil and producer should be appreciated for agreeing to do a film that is different from regular Telugu movies. Supported by a neat screenplay and a bit of comedy, debutant director Chandoo Mondeti delivers a decent movie. Additional plus point of the movie is runtime (2 hours and 4 minutes). The minus points of the movie are slow-paced narration. The family drama and romance didn’t work well. On a whole, Karthikeya is a an interesting movie and a watchable one.

Nail bitting story line with Extra ordinary cinematography. Nikhil shines in this new avtar.

The story starts with a very modern note. It takes through the waves of Traditions with scientific explanations. The best part of the movie is the protagonist's curiosity. It relates the best with the youth of our times.
