This poignant movie highlights the plight of poor farmers in India. The story revolves around the life of a poor peasant Ram (Nisar) who was being ill-treated by his landlord Ghani.
Eventually, Ghani is murdered and Ram becomes the prime suspect in the eyes of the public. What will be the fate of Ram? Does a person with no wealth or social standing have even a remote possibility of receiving justice from society?
This film made history in the film industry by being the first Indian color film to be made entirely in India.
