A brooding photographer Servais Mont meets the struggling actress Nadine Chevalier who acts in cheap soft-core movies to pay her bills. Servais helps Nadine by giving her a path-breaking role and financing the theatrical production of 'Richard III' which she stars in. Nadine is torn between her lover whom she can't help falling in love with, and her husband Jacques whom she has moral obligations towards.
