Poignant and powerful, this intense, woman-centric saga centres around Laajo, a simple village woman, who lives with her husband, a truck driver and her two young sons. Her life seems to be going at a sedate pace, until a terrible tragedy strikes. Shockingly, her husband, Harnam, is arrested for drug-trafficking, Laajo and her two sons, Nathuram and Jeet, are asked to leave the village by the village leader or Sarpanch.
They re-locate to another village where she lives as a widow. Nathuram grows up to be a slacker and a thief, and she throws him out of the house, while Jeet takes to driving a truck and she fears that he will be arrested for selling drugs like his father. Before she could persuade him to take up another job, she gets the news that Harnam, who has recently been released from jail, is now wanted for murder. What danger and difficulties lie in store for Laajo? Will call the struggle and sacrifice she has meet to bring up her young sons alone be in vain?
