Embedded with many special effects, this supernatural drama delves into the lives of a father and son. Annamalai (Jayaram) is the old village chief who believes in astrology and the existence of supernatural forces. He fiercely guards the village against evil spirits and performs ritualistic ceremonies or 'homas’ to overcome them.
One day, the astrologers tell him that his son Pashupathy (Jayaram) should shave his hair off to save the village. A reluctant Pashupathy does it, but is furious with his father when he takes a second wife (Bhanupriya).
One day during the ‘homa’ ceremony Annamalai accidentally falls into the homa pit and is on fire. Pashupahy takes the ‘kanas’ bottle thinking that it is water to extinguish the fire. The petrol in the bottle fuels the fire and the old man is burnt alive. Everybody who saw the accident believes that Pashupathy killed his father, so he runs away.
After 20 years Pashupathy comes back to the village to inherit his father’s wealth but the second wife’s relatives are out to kill him. Added to that the old man Annamalai’s ghost enters Pashupathy's body. The rest of this extraordinary tale depicts the complex sequence of events that unfold into a mysterious and magical climax...
Actor Jayaram plays a double role in this movie of both father and son.
