October was a fresh breath of air, where the focus was on the screen play and characterization. Screenplay is the king, as the story is just a one liner. It is a simple story of a couple of trainees people working at a hotel and a freak accident changes the life and perspective of the hero Dan (Varun Dhawan).
The casting was apt but the surprise package was Varun Dhawan. In this movie he has proved his acting skills and that he is more that a good physic and dance skills. Banita Sandhu as Shuili acts primarily with her eyes and Gitanjali Rao as her mother is expresses her agony and hope with such consummate ease. All the support characters did their part well.
The background score elevates the mood of the movie and holds the dramatic tension, hats off to Shantanu Moitra. Point to be noted here is that the movie has no song and dance sequence.
The entire movie is delicately laced with humour, which I did not expect considering the serious nature of the events.
A must watch for anyone who likes good cinema.
