This intense social drama follows an offbeat family consisting of Sivaji, the loving elder step-brother of Rajendran a.k.a. Raja (Rajinikanth) and Vijaybabu. After his marriage, his wife (Vadivukkarasi) throws his brothers out, while he's out on a trip to Chennai.
Raja, the older of the two, toils and becomes a taxi driver to educate and treat his brother. But his brother strays and gets mixed up with some miscreants. He marries a girl (Ramya Krishnan) from a wealthy family. The girl's uncle (Jaishankar), is a smuggler who sells drugs using his brother's lorries, kills him and entraps Raja for the death. When Sivaji, the presiding judge, realises with shock and joy that the 'criminal' on trial is none other than his long-lost brother, he resigns as the judge and returns as a lawyer to save him. Will Sivaji succeed in exposing the truth and ensuring that Raja gets free?
