Trivia:
The initial idea for the film derived while director Paul Thomas Anderson was sick in bed .

"Phantom Thread" was Daniel Day-Lewis's final film as he announced that he was retiring from acting in June 20, 2017.

Paul Thomas Anderson not only directed the movie but also had worked as a cinematographer in the movie.

While preparing for the film, Daniel Day-Lewis watched archival footage of 1940s and 1950s fashion shows, studied famous designers, consulted with the curator of fashion and textiles at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and apprenticed under Marc Happel, head of the costume department at the New York City Ballet.

Daniel Day-Lewis also learned how to sew for the film.

Vicky Krieps did not meet Daniel Day-Lewis until her first day on set. He was instructed to refer to him as "Reynolds" for the duration of filming.

Daniel Day-Lewis and Lesley Manville became real-life friends for six months prior to filming began.

The film was wrapped on April 26, 2017, the same day that Paul Thomas Anderson's close friend and mentor Jonathan Demme passed away from cancer. Therefore, the film is dedicated to his close friend.

This will be Daniel Day-Lewis's first film since the 2012 "Lincoln". Also, it will be the second collaboration between him and Paul Thomas Anderson.

Daniel Day-Lewis has not seen the film in its finished state and was emotionally affected during filming.

Few scenes were shot on location in the villages of Lythe and Staithes during January and February 2017.

"Phantom Threads" was a name seen on several vans while filming some scenes on location before even the film's title was announced.

Phantom Thread won "The National Board of Review" award for best original screenplay.
