'Raja Rani' is a big budget movie that brings to life the vision of a debutant director. It is a realistic exploration into modern relationships, delving into emotionally-charged areas of marriage such as ego clashes, jealousies and other day to day issues.
Arya and Nayantara, both of whom used to be in relationship with others are forced by fateful circumstances to marry. Nayanthara's boyfriend used to be Jai and Arya loved Nazriya, but they lose their respective lovers and unite in the sacred bond of matrimony.
How they sort out their differences and eventually find a permanent solution for all the issues in a marriage forms the crux of the story. It is all about their day-to-day problems and ego clashes.
