Drought-plagued Northern California in 1976. Sam Kincaid is an aging rancher with a failing memory. Luke, a young ranch hand contacts Sarah, Sam's estranged and independent-minded daughter. Sam suffers from Alzheimer's at a time when little was known of the disease. Internal struggles, the realities of an unforgiving landscape, and the need to reconcile a long-ago tragedy collide as Luke finds himself in the midst of a family in crisis.
