Upon the death of his father, Daniel Rimsdale leaves college and returns home to the Chippewa Valley in order to salvage his family business and save family from financial ruin. He must deal with the heavy resistance coming from his father's old friend who aims to secure the family mansion and the rumored treasure that it holds.
