'Vanishing Pearls' chronicles the personal and professional devastation in Pointe à la Hache, a close-knit fishing village which faced the consequences of the worst environmental disaster - the Deepwater Horizon oil spill which happened in the year 2010. 49 million barrels of oil had settled in the once vibrant coastal waters which forced the older generations of the community of black fishermen to fight against the injustice and seek accountability for their way of life.
