Kathir, a greedy man driven by the desire for wealth, engages in all sorts of illicit businesses, leading to significant financial loss and plunging his family into a dire crisis. During a confrontation when a lender attempts to seize Kayal, the family fights back, resulting in the lender being left in a coma. Fearing the consequences, they escape to Kathir's ancestral mountain village, abandoned 30 years prior. Kathir, Kayal, and their son seek to start anew, with Kathir vowing to abandon his corrupt ways. The village residents survive without proper roads, walking fifteen kilometers for essentials, hoping for development for generations. During a festival, Kathir is introduced to 'mooligai rasam,' a native revitalizing drink, which he recognizes has great demand in the plains. Using his cunning, he plans to commercialize it successfully. Meanwhile, Kayal uncovers Ezhuvan, a former village leader, who exploits the villagers by lending small amounts of money and seizing their lands. As villagers strive for a road connection, the exploitation by Ezhuvan and Kathir's illegal pursuits threaten to destroy their hopes, weaving a story of greed, redemption, and the fight for justice in "Vellakuthira."
