A mist-drenched hamlet receives a new vicar and he introduces new innitiatives ably assisted by a nun. Vavachan, a wily and pompous landlord does not support the vicar because he hinders his personal agenda.. A young girl trades her body for money and when questioned she speaks up against reading out pastoral letters to the needy. A benign soul is scarred by personal losses and seeks revenge, but later expresses remorse. A vicar and nun are defrocked after there are allegations of a blasphemous relationship. These form the mosaic of the film.
