Where did you watch this movie?

During World War 2, a deeply patriotic and sincere young man named Steve Rogers tries to enlist but is repeatedly rejected for his frail and sickly condition, however a scientist notes his determination and allows him to be accepted. What Steve doesn't know is that this scientist is in charge of a government project to create super soldiers, in which Steve is to be the first, but the colonel in charge of the project can't see what the scientist does in this scrawny runt - a strong inner character. Meanwhile, Johann Schmidt, head of a German science division known as HYDRA, knows this scientist and fears the success of his project in America. Knowing it could mean trouble for the Germans, so he sends a man to infiltrate and see if it's a success, and "take care" of the scientist if it is. It is, and he does, but not without Steve and his new abilities chasing him down. With the doctor dead, no more American supermen will be forthcoming, and Steve quickly becomes a mere U.S. war drive propaganda tool called "Captain America." How will Steve come to terms with his new role as Captain America?

Chris Evans declined the role three times before accepting the part. After that, he had a meeting with the director and the producers who convinced him to take the role.

At the Expo Howard Stark demonstrates his semi-functional "Reversion" technology. It's an obvious precursor to Tony Stark's "Repulsors", perfected his Iron Man armor. They both even have an orange glow when functioning.

Stanley Tucci took the role of Dr. Erskine because the role enabled him to use a German accent, which he always wanted to do.

Chris Evans was actually paid $300,000 to play the title role.

Captain America's fighting style is "Jeet Kune Do" a fighting style developed by Bruce Lee.

To prepare for his role as Bucky, Sebastian Stan watched many World War II films/documentaries, and drew inspiration from Band of Brothers (2001).

The design of Red Skull's flying fortress in the climax of the film was heavily inspired by Spriggan, the boss of the Air Battle level in the Nintendo 64 videogame "Aerofighters Assault".

Tommy Lee Jones, who plays Col. Phillips, also appeared as Two-Face/Harvey Dent in Batman Forever (1995).

To prepare for her role as Peggy Carter, Hayley Atwell trained six days a week.

Alice Eve, Gemma Arterton and Keira Knightley were considered for the role of Peggy Carter. Emily Blunt turned down the role.

Dane Cook, Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas auditioned for the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America.

Sebastian Stan was considered for the role of Captain America, but got the role of Bucky instead.

There are several references to Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), which director Joe Johnston worked on as Art Director:

Samuel L. Jackson filmed a scene for this movie in New York City's Time Square, which serves as a scene that preludes The Avengers.

The basic science behind the cryogenics of Captain America is that his enhanced human body was able to lower its own freezing temperature, which prevented Rogers from dying in the ice.
