While Set's armor appears to be based on a jackal, that particular animal is actually associated with the Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis. However, the so-called Set animal is canine and can (and often has) been mistaken for the Anubis jackal. The Set animal (or Sha) is unusual as it hasn't been identified as a modern animal.
