Anthony Bell (who previously directed Lionsgate's hit film Alpha and Omega (2010)) was suppose to direct this film, but Trevor Wall replaced him

Chicago comedian Matt Bryne did a performance art piece claiming to have directed "Norm of the North". Until he recieved a cease and decease letter

"The North" in the film's title geographically refers to northern Canada (the Canadian Arctic)

Originally planned for a straight-to-DVD release, but eventually was given a wide theatrical run.
