Saara Cantell a director and screenwriter. She has written and directed numerous short films as well as seven feature films – Unna & Nuuk (2006), the award-winning features Heartbeats (2010) and The Stars Above (2012) and recent box-office hits The Two and Only (2013) and Jill and Joy (2014). Cantell was voted Finland’s best film director in 2010, and she was also awarded a State Film Arts Prize jointly with the cinematographer Marita Hällfors. Her film Heartbeats received 7 nominations at the Jussi Awards, plus a nomination for the best director.
