Where did you watch this movie?

'Darr' is fear. And fear beats in every lover's heart. Fear that your love may not be reciprocated, fear that you lose the one you love, fear that your beloved could have a change of heart. In short, fear is the villain in every love story. But, in 'Darr', fear is the ultimate expression of passion, of obsession and of sacrifice. 'Darr' is Rahul's story of love and obsession for Kiran, that frees him from all fears of life and death, wipes away his inhibitions and ability to discriminate between right and wrong. 'Darr' is Sunil's story, whose enduring love and passion for Kiran gives him the courage to face the fear of death. And finally 'Darr' is Kiran's story, one who is caught between one man's love and another man's obsession. She fears one and fears for the other. One stands for love and the other for life. In this battle between love and life, the supreme victor is Love, because Love always wins, in Life and in Death.

In the last scene, during the day, there is a Swiss flag hoisted aloft the yacht, but during the night, the flag is different.

When Rahul leaves Sunil's house, he is wearing brown shoes. When he runs toward the road, his shoes turn white and then brown again.

During the beginning of the rescue mission, Sunil dives in the ocean, but after a few minutes, his clothes are completely dry.

When Sunil is descending from the helicopter during the rescue mission, the cover on his face is on and off between shots.

The climactic battle between Sunil and Rahul, after the latter expresses his love toward Kiran, is on a poorly constructed scale model of the yacht, seen in the previous scene.
Hrithik Roshan and Uday Chopra came up with the idea for the film after watching Dead Calm (1989). Hrithik himself came up with the title for the movie.

Sunny Deol was a more popular star than Shah Rukh Khan at the time, and was given a choice between the roles of Sunil Malhotra and Rahul Mehra. Deol chose to play Malhotra, believing it would improve his career, but instead the reverse occurred: Shah Rukh Khan's performance was more acclaimed than Deol's.

The film marks the last time Sunny Deol and Shahrukh Khan's starred together.

The film inspired the Hollywood movie Fear (1996).

The film was initially titled Kiran.
